Archbishop Gregory Aymond, CJ ’67, celebrates Mass…
On Wednesday morning, the Crusaders gathered in the Conlin Gym for our annual Lenten Liturgy.  The Celebrant for the Mass was Archbishop Gregory Aymond, Cor Jesu 1967 graduate and 2001 Brother Martin High School Alumnus of the Year.  Archbishop Aymond was assisted by Brother Louis Couvillon, S.C., chaplain an ordained Brother of the Sacred Heart.

Archbishop Aymond spoke to the student body about the characteristics of a Christian man: in the gospel reading from Matthew, both Jesus and Jeremiah were bold men. Being a bold man is at the heart of Christianity, and as Crusaders who have been given so many opportunities for growth; it is through boldness that the true compassionate Crusader man is born.

Archbishop Aymond also challenged the students to make a difference in this world by using their individual gifts and talents to listen to God’s call for vocation—as a married man, a single man, or in the call to the religious life.

CRUSADERS “MARCH FOR LIFE”
A group of ten students and two faculty members left on January 19 to attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C. Once the group arrived in the capitol city, along with over 250 students from other New Orleans area Catholic schools, they attended mass with Archbishop Aymond and then joined over 200,000 others in the actual march. During their stay, the group also toured the

city, exploring the Smithsonian museums, the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, and the special propaganda exhibit at the National Holocaust Museum. These Crusaders for Life put their belief into action as they marched in our nation’s capitol to urge our government to protect all stages of human life.

SAINTS SUPER BOWL PARADE
The Crusaders marched in history Tuesday night as they thrilled hundreds of thousands of people along the parade route for what some are calling the largest parade in New Orleans history. The NJROTC Color Guard, Crusader Cheerleaders, and Marching Band walked the streets of downtown New Orleans in front of Saints’ owner and St. Aloysius graduate Tom Benson’s float.  The Color Guard performed

rifle throwing; the cheerleaders danced, stunted, and tumbled; and the Crusader Band performed “Let’s Get Crunked” and “When the Saints Go Marching In” to the delight of the many Saints fans who lined the streets. Seven Brothers of the Sacred Heart led the entire procession, attesting to their place in New Orleans history, since 1869. Go Crusaders! Go Saints!
