JV Soccer Claims Second Place After Long Weekend

In just 26 hours, the JV soccer team played five games with two going into overtime, and came home with a second place finish in the Hahnville Junior Varsity Soccer Tournament over the weekend. Late Goals Surge Crusaders Past Tigers

Brother Martin is king of Gentilly as they defeated Holy Cross in soccer and wrestling in the “Battle of Gentilly” on Wednesday, January 14th. Early Goal Proves to be Enough

The Crusaders had a shot at redemption and took it in Monday night’s 1-0 non-district win against Grace King at Tad Gormley.  The Fighting Irish defeated Brother Martin in last season’s state quarterfinal match in PKs to knock out the Crusaders. Crusaders End in a Draw

On a cold Friday night, the Brother Martin Crusaders (5-1-5) and the Jesuit Blue Jays met for a district showdown at John Ryan Stadium, and after two periods, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Soccer is a Winter Sport. The season begins in November and playoffs are concluded in February. Tryouts are usually in the first week of November, but for many returning team members, practice never ends. Many players get together informally during the summer months to train and prepare for the season.

The Soccer program is built on a strong foundation of excellence. State Championship victories in 2000 and 2001 have brought the program to the pinnacle of the sport. Numerous playoff appearances have kept Brother Martin Soccer in the spotlight. Many All-District and All-State Athletes have grown with the program and have gone on to play on the next level.

There are four divisions: Junior High (Grades 7th and 8th), 9th Grade, Junior Varsity (Grades 10th and 11th), and Varsity (Grades 9th – 12th). Games and Tournaments are held throughout the week.
