Crusader Football Prepares for the 2014 Season

For the Brother Martin Crusaders and Coach Mark Bonis, last year did not go as planned or expected.  Brother Martin finished 2013 at 4-7 overall and 1-4 in 9-5A. Running Back Jared West Commits

Senior running back Jared West announced on Tuesday afternoon that he has committed to Northern Colorado. The Bears were his only offer at this time but he is also seeing interest from Utah, South Alabama, Kent State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe and McNeese State. Football Program Begins Summer Workouts

Over the past few weeks, Coach Mark Bonis has been leading the Crimson Crush in summer workouts. The football squad arrives each morning at 7:00 am and puts in work on new plays and formations. The team also participates in a rigorous strength and conditioning program to help the players perform at the highest level. Brother Martin opens the 2014 season on Friday, August 29th at E.D. Crusaders End Spring Football on a High Note

Brother Martin capped off its spring football with a good showing against Slidell High in a scrimmage game on Wednesday afternoon.  Rising senior Jared West shined on offense rushing for two touchdowns against the Tiger defense. Mr. Archie Manning Honors Andrew Genois at the 2014 National Football Foundation Awards Luncheon

The Allstate Sugar Bowl Chapter of the National Football Foundation/College Football Hall of Fame held its 2014 Awards Luncheon on Wednesday afternoon in the Napoleon Room of the Hilton Riverside.  Thirty-two local high school football players were recognized for their achievements in the classroom and on the football field. The Football Program consists of five levels of competition: seventh grade, eighth grade, ninth grade, junior varsity, and varsity. Team selections for the varsity and junior varsity teams are made through a tryout process.

Participation at the junior high and ninth grade levels is limited only by medical or physical concerns.
