Track & Field Claims Runner-Up in District Championship

Congratulations to the members of the Track & Field Team who competed in last night’s District Championship Meet. Crusader Track & Field Hosts Annual Chubby Marks Classic

On Friday, April 6th, the Junior High and Varsity Track and Field Teams were in action as Brother Martin hosted the annual Chubby Marks Classic.  In a very close contest, the Varsity team edged out district rivals, St. Augustine and Jesuit, to take the team title.  All three of the top teams were separated by a total of 2 points.  In the Junior High division, the team finished a close second to St. Augustine. What a Night for Crusader Athletics!

On Tuesday, March 27th, Crusader Athletics swept the evening with victories! The day began with our Crusader Bowling team participating in the Bi-Regional Tournament at AMF All-Star Lanes in Kenner. The first round matchup, at 1:00 pm, was against St. Amant with the Crusaders winning 23-4. Track & Field Posts Strong Marks at Catholic High Meet

Congratulations to the members of the Track & Field Team who posted strong marks at the Catholic High Tip-Off on Saturday. Junior Hunter Appleton won both the 1600 meter 3200 meter runs in impressive times of 4:20 and 9:30 respectively.  Junior Jackson Anuszkiewicz ran 2:03 in the 800 meter run to finish second. Crusaders Conclude Indoor Track & Field Season

Congratulations to the members of the Crusader track and field program who competed in the State Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 17.  Junior Hunter Appleton repeated as the state champion in the 3200 meter! In addition, finishing in fifth place were the 4×800 meter relay team comprised of Michael Wilson ‘18, Ethan Meydrich ‘18, Hayden Courrege’ ‘18 and Hunter Appleton ‘19. Track & Field is a multi-event sport held during the Spring. The season begins in January and ends in May. Practice begins formally immediately after the Christmas Holidays.

There are three divisions: junior high (8th and 9th), junior varsity (9th- 11th), and varsity (9th – 12th). Meets are usually conducted on a Friday or Saturday with a typical season being about six to ten meets, some here in town, others in other parts of the state. Each division competes against other teams on their own grade level. Students are allowed to tryout for and participate in 17 different events. The different events that the students can participate in are:

  • 100 Meter Dash

Generally following the Track & Field season, many of the team members return to other sports such as football, cross country, and soccer.
