Basketball

The Basketball Program consists of five levels of competition: seventh grade, eighth grade, ninth grade, junior varsity, and varsity.

Varsity and junior varsity basketball begins with conditioning and weight training in the fall.  The official beginning of practice is determined by LHSAA regulations. Currently, that is the first Monday in October.  Tryouts for all levels take place in November. Varsity and junior varsity seasons begin in late November and run through late February.  Team members are expected to attend all practices/games during the holiday seasons.  9th, 8th, 7th grade teams begin in late November.  Spring practice for varsity and junior varsity takes place in May.  Summer League/Team Camps run from the end of May through the month of June.

Team selections (all levels) are made through a tryout process.

2014 Basketball Convocation

The Athletic Department hosted a convocation last night honoring our basketball program. Head Coaches’ Biehl (Varsity), Caulkins (Junior Varsity), David (9th), Franks (8th) and Paladino (7th) each gave a brief synopsis of their season. Crusader Basketballers Named to All-District Team

Congratulations to Senior guard Jordan Cornish and Junior guard Venjie Wallis on being named to the 9-5A All District Basketball Team.  Jordan finished the season with an average of 20.7 points per game, and Venjie tallied 9.5 points per game.  Jordan has signed to play basketball at the University of Tennessee next year.  Congratulations, Crusaders! Crusaders Win Hard Fought Battle over Christian Life Academy

In a rescheduled game from earlier in the season, the Brother Martin Crusaders (21-9) put together a full team effort against a top 1A Christian Life team to win 53-49.  The Crusaders were also without senior guard Jordan Cornish due to an injury he suffered during the Shaw game Tuesday night. Basketball Wins Big Over Shaw

On Senior Night, the Brother Martin (20-10) basketball team defeated Shaw 77- 41 in the final district game of the regular season.  The Crusaders cames out strong scoring 21 points in the first quarter and holding Shaw to only 11 points. Brother Martin outscored Shaw 18-11 in the second quarter to lead 39-22 at the break. In the second half, the Crusaders scored 19 points in each quarter and limited Shaw to only 20 points in the entire half. Read more »

Crusaders Get Big Win Over the Raiders

Brother Martin (19-10, 4-5) traveled to Rummel’s gym Friday night seeking a much needed district win.  At the end of the night, the Crusaders came out on top by a score of 54-45, snapping a three-game losing streak.
