On a cold Tuesday morning, the NJROTC Color Guard lined up at Veterans Memorial Square near Lakeside Mall to honor fallen military members and their families. At 9:00 am, the sound of motorcycles filled the air as the Valor 4 Veterans riders arrived escorting the Snowball Express Heroes truck on the We Remember ride. These riders embark on a journey of 1,400 miles, from Dallas, Texas to Orlando, Florida, stopping at six Veterans Memorials. They carry a flag that was flown over the US Capitol from the 9/11 flight crew memorial near Dallas, Texas to Disney World in Orlando, Florida to start off the weekend of activities for family members who lost military and first responders fighting terrorism since September 11th.
The press release from Valor Healthcare states, "The Snowball Express is an official program of the Gary Sinise Foundation, an organization founded to honor American veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. The Gary Sinise Foundation achieves this goal by creating and supporting unique programs such as Snowball Express to educate, inspire, and strengthen communities. To support this goal, Snowball Express helps the families of fallen veterans to heal, learn, and build lasting relationships."
Color Guard members are held to the highest standards to reflect the mission and values of our students. At this event, their dedication showed to the veterans, riders, and parish leaders as the motorcade continued on their journey.
