The Brother Martin NJROTC Crusader Company held its 52nd Annual Military Inspection on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Retired Marine Lt. Col. Brandon Gregoire volunteered his time as the guest inspector presiding over the day of activities along with an assistant inspector, Army Capt. Bobbie Rangsdale. The cadet staff, led by Cadet Lt. Cmdr. Eric Gegenheimer ‘20, presented a briefing on the unit’s mission and goals. While the instructors provide guidance to prepare the brief, the cadets must do all the work and present without any instructors. “This was as professional as any brief I received during my military career,” said Lt. Col. Gregoire. The cadets then moved to final preparations for the ceremony after school.
Immediately after school, cadets formed up in the backyard to a crowd of family, friends, and faculty to observe the ceremony. Cadet Master Chief Michael Cuccia ‘20 began the formal ceremony with a call to fall in. As the staff formed and prepared for the arrival of the official party, cadets from our new cross enrolled school, Ursuline Academy, formed at the quarterdeck to salute the arriving officials. The guest inspectors reviewed every cadet for proper uniform and knowledge. Several cadets stood out as best prepared and earned the Exemplary Personal Appearance Award.
This inspection is an accumulation of all the work throughout the year. “You are the reflection of our values,” said Principal Ryan Gallagher ‘00. “Parents, we appreciate your trust to help form your sons and daughters through this program.”
The results of this inspection now go to the Area Manager and national NJROTC Headquarters for final evaluation and ranking. The Crusader Company ranks in the top 25% of units nationwide and performed exceptionally on this day to continue their top performance. “This is a well-run program,” said Lt. Col. Gregoire in his report. “Cadets were knowledgeable, polite, and motivated. I was impressed with the level of enthusiasm of all participants. Bravo Zulu!” Job well done.
