Earlier this year, the Brother Martin Cheer Team placed first in the medium co-ed varsity division during the Universal Cheerleaders Association's National High School Cheerleading Championship at the Walt Disney World ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. This morning, Brother Martin High School held an assembly in the Robert M. Conlin Gymnasium to honor our 2024 National Champion Cheer Team. There, senior Chaz Exposito '24 led us in prayer, thanking the Lord for the gifts He has given them as well as His "unconditional love for each and every one of us."
Then, Assistant Principal for Student Services, Mrs. Kelly Alexander, spoke of the "countless hours" of practice that our cheer team puts in "in order to compete at the highest level," which only happens because of their "hard work, diligence, and perseverance."
Afterward, Head Cheer Coach, Mrs. Jessica Fresina, shared words of inspiration and gratitude for every member of the cheer team as they walked up to receive their champion's medal. The team then presented to Principal Ryan Gallagher '00 and the school as a whole their championship trophy as well as the American flag that House Majority Leader and Louisiana Representative, Mr. Steve. Scalise, had flown over the U.S. Capitol in February in their honor.
Congratulations again to our Cheer Team for their outstanding achievement! Their teamwork and dedication are models of excellence for all of us at Brother Martin.
