The Brother Martin Band Program participated in its annual LMEA Solo & Ensemble Assessment last week. During this very successful event, every student performed a solo or ensemble piece before a professional musician and were rated based on specific criteria such as tone, technique, intonation, and general effect. Students get the opportunity to rely only on themselves for the success of their performance.
Benefits include increased confidence, experience and notoriety. Out of 84 solo performances 64 students received Superior ratings. 26 students participated in 6 different ensembles ranging from a bass drum quintet, a french horn septet, and a performance of an arrangement by one of our seniors. Everyone has been working on their music since just after Christmas. Our Assessment culminated just last Thursday and Friday in the Auditorium.
