The wrestling team opened its season with two dual meet wins on Friday night in Katy, Texas. The crusaders shut ou Katy 66-0 and defeated Strake Jesuit 67-3. On Saturday at the Cinco Ranch Invitational the Crusaders broke the tournament record that they set in 2012 by scoring 312.5 points and winning by 124 points. Twelve wrestlers made the championship finals with eight taking home individual championships. Finishing as tournament champions were Steven Shields, Stephen Rumney, Paul Klein, Blaine Elsensohn, Seth Johnson, Daniel Evans, Yehia Riles and Travis Viener. Finishing in 2nd place were Luke Cotton, Taylor Gambill, Kevin Casey & Matthew Montalbano. 3rd place finishers were Brad Guidry & Mark Kingsbery. Seth Johnson was selected as Most Outstanding Wrestler.
The team will be back in action vs. Brusly & East Ascension on Wednesday at East Ascension.
