During the Christmas break the wrestling team won the South Plaquemine Duals, Trey Culotta Invitational and Bayou Duals. They finished 2nd at the Prep Slam in Atlanta falling to the nations #1 ranked team but scoring 271 points and placing 12 of 14 starters in the top 6 of the national prep tournament. In these tournaments the team defeated the 5x Texas state champions and the Alabama state champions.
Paul Klein won both the Trey Culotta and Prep Slam titles. Yehia Riles won the Trey Culotta and was 2nd at the Prep Slam. Steven Shields and Taylor Gambill won the Trey Culotta title. Luke Cotton, Stephen Rumney, Blaine Elsensoh, Mason Williams, Seth Johnson, Daniel Evans, Pierce Williams, Travis Viener, Jacob Clapp and Matt Montalbano all placed at these tournaments.
The wrestling program is back in action this week. The Varsity 2nd Team will face Holy Rosary on Wednesday night, the JH team will compete in the District Duals at Shaw on Saturday, and the Varsity 1st Team will travel to Alabaster, AL to compete in the Alabama Duals.
