Brother Martin once again claimed the top spot in Louisiana wrestling after capturing its fourth consecutive Division I team title at the 2015 LHSAA State Wrestling Championships on Saturday.
The Crusaders finished the tournament with 310 points atop Catholic league rivals Jesuit (270.5) and Holy Cross (269.5). Catholic-B.R. was next with 187 points, followed by Rummel (180), St. Paul’s (164.5) and Hahnville (143.5).
Congratulations to Coaches Dauterive ’84, Casadaban ’06, Pierre, Rousselle, and all the others who come after school to help, and congratulations to the members of the wrestling team for their state champion performance. Three Crusaders won individual state titles: sophomore Steven Shields (his second), senior Yehia Riles (his second), and senior Paul Klein (his fourth). Paul is the first wrestler to win four individual state titles in the “modern era” of LHSAA Division I wrestling.
Led by Athletic Director Scott Williams ’90 and Head Coach Robbie Dauterive ’84, the entire Crusader community gathered in the Conlin Gym to celebrate this monumental occasion. Coach Dauterive highlighted individual and team accomplishments for the season before awarding the 14 starters with medals presented by wrestling alumni.
Congratulations to the entire team on another successful season!
