Mr. Masson’s senior forensics classes are conducting pig autopsies. Students team up to determine the cause of death for their group’s pig. The student teams follow standard autopsy protocol: students examine the pig and look for the cause of death. The students are also looking for sinister causes of death: slit throats, gunshot, stab wounds, and/or blunt force trauma. The forensics students are gaining valuable real-life experience in a field that is continuing to grow and may become the professional career choice of some. Mr. Masson’s experience and expertise as a former homicide detective with the JPSO gives the course and this project much more authenticity and credence.
