On Thursday, March 13, Brother Martin High School hosted "Where I Learned To Teach: Brother Martin High School’s Partnership With Parents" as part of the Parent Engagement and Education series. The event featured a panel discussion led by Principal Ryan Gallagher '00 and a keynote address by Mr. Jay Uhlman, Tulane University's Head Baseball Coach and current Crusader parent. He spoke about his "concept of good" and emphasized the significance of life's obstacles, which can provide invaluable training. Uhlman also relayed that one must live out a standard of excellence and work with people of character to carry out one's mission in life.
After his address, Coach Uhlman participated in a panel discussion alongside Brother Martin faculty members Mr. Patrick McClain, Mr. Thomas "TeeJay" Nash '12, and Mrs. Ashley Walter, senior Liam Enger '25, Professor Logan Istre, and alumnus Mr. Hunter Appleton '19. Panelists engaged in a Q&A session covering the importance of goal-setting, establishing structures and routines that support these goals, overcoming obstacles, and viewing challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles in order to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
We would like to thank our Crusader parents, panelists, and guests who helped to make this event so rewarding, and we look forward to continuing this valuable series next year.
