This weekend, the Crusader wrestling team traveled to Arlington, TX to participate in the Lone Star Duals. The first day of action saw Brother Martin go 5-0 and improve its record to 23-1 while advancing to the quarter finals. On the second day of competition Brother Martin defeated Windsor, Colorado 29-28 to win the Lone Star Duals. The dual started at the 182 lb. match and came down to the final match at 170 lb. Crusader senior Daniel Albrecht scored a reversal with 5 seconds left in regulation and scored another with 10 seconds left in double overtime to win the match 7-6. Windsor entered the finals as the #1 ranked team in Colorado. This Crusader win also ended Windsor’s dual meet streak of 53 consecutive wins.
The Crusader basketball program was in action on Friday and Saturday. The 8th grade team had a double-header on Saturday against St. Paul’s and Holy Cross. They defeated both St. Paul’s 33-32 and Holy Cross 30-16 to bring their season record to 11-2. The JV and varsity teams played at Grace King on Friday night. With the momentum in the Crusaders’ favor, Brother Martin took an early lead and never looked back scoring over the century mark and defeating Grace King 100-35. The Crusaders continue district play against Rummel at 7:00 pm on Tuesday in the Conlin Gym.
The JV and varsity soccer teams played matches against district rival Jesuit on Saturday at Farley Field. The JV defeated Jesuit 2-0 on a sloppy field. Despite having many late shots on goal, the varsity could not find a way to score and lost 1-0 with a goal coming in the 77th minute. The Crusaders face Chalmette at 3:30 on Farley Field this Wednesday.
