The Brother Martin Chorus recently presented its annual Christmas concert at St. Martin de Porres Church. The combined Chorus classes began the program with the Advent hymn “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” and “Shout for Joy,” a song of praise. Members of the sixth period Chorus performed Thomas Ravenscroft’s “Hey Ho, Nobody Home,” the traditional French carol “Angels We Have Heard on High,” and “Come Sail Away With Me.”

Fifth-period Chorus members sang the traditional carol “Here We Come A-Wassailing” and the Polish carol “Infant Holy.” Their portion of the program concluded with Vincent Persichetti’s “Sam Was a Man,” based on a poem by E.E. Cummings, and “O Love,” by contemporary composer Elaine Hagenberg.

Members of our Alumni Chorus also continued their tradition of joining our choirs, singing “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” originally made famous by Bing Crosby. The alumni also joined the fifth-period Chorus members in singing “Kaki Lambe,” a traditional Senegal song.

All of the choirs combined to sing “Night of Silence,” a partner song with “Silent Night,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Chorus members were joined by other alumni in attendance to conclude the concert with the singing of “O Sacred Heart.”

We would like to thank Mr. Kevin Caparotta '88, the Crusader Chorus, Alumni, and everyone who joined us for this beautiful Christmas tradition!
