Update- Football Moves On in Playoffs

IMG_3808On Friday night from Yulman Stadium, the Brother Martin Crusaders opened the first-round of the Division I football playoffs with a victory over the McKinley Panthers by a score of 28 – 12. This was the first time the Crusader football team, band, cheerleaders, and Debs stepped on the field at Yulman. After a shaky first quarter that found the Crusaders trailing 6 – 0, the offense settled down to begin the second quarter. Running back Erick Lassair got the scoring started with a six yard touchdown run. Quarterback John Paul Pierce then found Davonn Moore for a 24 yard touchdown strike. Beau Ranlett came up with a big sack as time expired in the second quarter with McKinley threatening to score.  On the first possession of the third quarter Pierce again found Moore for a 22 yard touchdown and increased the Crusader lead to 21 – 6. Pierce finished the night with 134 yards passing and two touchdowns, both to Moore who finished with 89 yards receiving. Lassair then capped off the scoring for the Crusaders with a 10 yard touchdown run to begin the fourth quarter. Lassair finished with 52 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Congratulations, Crusaders!
