Summer reading keeps the mind active and is critical for the retention of knowledge garnered over the prior school year. During third period on August 23rd, 2022, our students and faculty ventured forth across campus to form small groups to discuss over 70 different novels that were read over the summer. Students were allowed to choose from books of genres ranging from sports to science fiction. Each book was specially chosen by a member of faculty who would then come to lead a group discussion about that very same book.
"The goal is to allow people to read and discuss what interests them, what they are passionate about, which is the first step to encourage a love of reading," says Mrs. Debbie Broussard, Academic Assistant Principal, who, along with our librarian Miss Amanda Gaston, spearheaded this exciting literary adventure. These discussions also enabled teachers and students, who may never have met otherwise, to come together to discuss stories that interest them.
This year's summer reading was a success in our book! We can't wait to find out what will be on next year's book list!
