The Jazz Police arrived in the Band Room this week when the Percussion Ensemble and Big Band joined forces for a festive end-of-the-year concert. The percussionists took the stage first, performing pop favorites like a Led Zeppelin Medley and Journey’s “Separate Ways.” Their final song was a percussive interpretation of the classic “Over the Rainbow.” When the drummers moved aside, the big band jazz musicians arrived, performing with gusto such pieces as Gordon Goodwin’s “Jazz Police” and John Powell’s “Adelieland.” The final rousing performance of the evening was the Brother Martin 2013 Jazz Band’s adaptation of the Crusader Fight Song titled “Fight Song Jazzy.” Thanks, musicians, for a memorable evening of great music!
