The Brother Martin Advancement and Alumni Relations Office hosted a special presentation to honor the players and coaches of our 1974 State Championship Basketball Team for their 50th Anniversary.

We also recognized one of the great Brother Martin Basketball Players - Rick Robey ’74.  He is 1974 Louisiana State Champion as well as a 1975 Pan American Gold Medalist. He is also a two-time All-SEC player, a two-time NCAA All-American, and a 1978 NCAA Champion at the University of Kentucky.  He was drafted 3rd overall in the 1978 NBA Draft to the Indiana Pacers and later won a World Championship with the Boston Celtics in 1981 during his eight-year professional career.

We presented Rick Robey ’74 with his jersey and unveiled his jersey to honor him for his basketball accomplishments during his high school, college, and professional careers.  His jersey will hang in the Conlin Gymnasium, the place where he made many memories as a Crusader Student-Athlete.

After the ceremony, Yvonne and Jimmy McCulla ’74 hosted a gathering for the team to celebrate the anniversary!
