On Wednesday, April 5 the Crusader tennis team ran their season record to 8-0 when they defeated Ben Franklin by a score of 5-2. The #1 Doubles team of Ben Chanes and Zachary Brubaker, the #2 Doubles team of Corey Canzoneri and Chris Russo, and the #3 Doubles team of Nathan Long and Sterling Heindel all won with scores of 8-0. In singles action, Ethan Bosch in Line 3 won 8-3 and Hunter Kael in Line 4 won 8-0.
The next day the Crusaders returned to the UNO tennis courts to battle it out in their last district match against Jesuit. In a hard fought match the Crusaders were defeated by a score of 3-4. The Singles competition began with the Crusaders jumping out to a 3-1 lead. In Lines 1 and 2, Ben Chanes and Zachary Brubaker were both victorious against their opponents by scores of 8-4. In Line 3, Ethan Bosch battled back only to lose a tough match 5-8. In Line 4, Hunter Kael kept fighting hard and defeated his opponent 9-7. In Doubles play, the Crusaders went 0-3. The #1 Doubles team of Ben Chanes and Zachary Brubaker and #3 team of Corey Canzoneri and Chris Russo were both beaten by scores of 4-8. The #2 team of Nathan Long and Sterling Heindel competed hard every game, but were defeated by a score of 1-8.
This ‘ONE TEAM…ONE HEARTBEAT’ will be back in action when they compete in the Regional Tournament on April 18-19 at City Park Tennis Center.
