Swimmers "Rise to the Occasion" at Meet

IMG_9794This week, the UNO Aquatics Center was filled with school camaraderie as the Crusader swim team and their opponents warmed up for their meet. Head Coach Mark Bordelon stated, “The guys are at a challenging time of the season, yet they continue to rise to the occasion and to perform at their best.” Rise to the occasion they did as the Crusaders took home first place overall including first place finishes in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and medley events.

Other teams competing in the meet were Destrehan, Patrick F. Taylor, Riverdale, Riverside, Vandebilt Catholic, and De La Salle. First place finishers were Chandler Bonvillian in the 500 yard freestyle, Alex East in the 100 yard backstroke, Jonathan Bullock in the 100 yard breaststroke, and Kevin-James Watkins in the 100 yard freestyle and the 200 yard individual medley.  It was great team effort of Alex East, Jonathan Bullock, Ryan O’Connor, and Kevin-James Watkins that captured the win in the 200 yard medley relay. These ‘men that never say die’ look to repeat their success this weekend!

Come out and support the swim team who will “compete for a cure” in the Cancer Awareness Invitational at the UNO Aquatics Center on Saturday, October 21 for 10 a.m.

Good luck, Crusaders!
