On Sunday, October 14, 2012, the Brother Martin NJROTC Unit supported the Stella Maris Maritime Mass at the St. Louis Cathedral. The Archdiocese of New Orleans hosts this Mass each year to pay tribute to the people and families who have lost family members on the Mississippi River. Maritime Sunday included a Mass presided over by Archbishop Gregory Aymond CJ ’67. After Mass, the archbishop led the congregation across Decatur Street to the Mississippi River. The procession was led by the Brother Martin NJROTC Color Guard. The Archbishop conducted a brief memorial service by the river as officers from the NJROTC Unit threw wreaths into the river to symbolize the prayers going out to those who work on the Mississippi. Taps was played by members of the Brother Martin Band. Bravo Zulu on another outstanding service event.
