After a tough loss to Jesuit over the weekend, the Crusaders didn’t waste any time regaining their momentum. In the first half, Brother Martin was able to gain an early 2-0 lead on goals by Cristian Canales and Christian Ridley. At the start of the second half, Peter Brooks found the back of the net twice. His first goal came in the 49th minute and his second was in the 54th minute off a pass from Mark Mangum. Adam Rodriguez scored the final goal in the 70th minute when he curled a corner kick from the left side into the goal.
The Crusaders are now 16-2 and ranked 2nd in the state behind Lafayette. In the national rankings released on Jan. 8, Brother Martin received a 10th-place ranking.
Brother Martin will play its next match on Saturday on Farley Field. JV will start off the action against St. Paul’s at 10:00 am, and the varsity will play West Jefferson at 1:30.
