Yesterday afternoon, Brother Martin (21-2) played Mandeville (14-8-1) in the regional round of the LHSAA State Playoffs. The Crusaders took an early lead scoring on a header by John Fourcade. The lead didn’t last long when Mandeville scored the equalizer just three minutes later. In the 38th minute Brother Martin regained the lead with a goal from Pierce Rubenstein and kept it going into the half.
At the start of the second half, Cristian Canales drilled a shot that found the back of the net giving the Crusaders a 3-1 lead. Senior Cullen Schultz scored the final goal off a pass from Mark Mangum just before the closing whistle.
No. 3 Brother Martin will play No. 6 Catholic in the quarterfinals on Monday at 11:00am @ Pan American. Admission to the game is $7. Go ‘Saders!
