Seward '13 Named Southland Conference Baseball Player of the Year

rp_primary_b_SLU_Seward_Jacob_2_021315Southeastern Lion and Brother Martin alumnus Jacob Seward ’13 has been named the Southland Conference Baseball Player of the Year! Seward finished the season ranked among the top-seven players in six different categories. The sophomore was second in on base percentage (.457) and runs scored (47), third in hits (74), stolen bases (19) and individual batting (.365), and seventh in runs batted it with 35 runs. Seward also only struck out 13 times while drawing 25 walks in 203 plate appearances.  Other season accomplishments include a .992 fielding percentage in the outfield, a league-best .303 batting average with 574 hits and 314 RBIs, and a team leading 19 stolen bases.

Seward helped lead the Lions to a 25-5 league mark, the most wins in Southland history and the programs first regular season title.  He is only the second player in program history to earn this award.

Seward was also named to the 2015 Southland All-Conference First Team.
