In conjunction with the Great Read, the Science Department has endeavored to bring the science of William Kamkwamba’s “the Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” to Elysian Fields. Mrs. Richard’s 9th Grade Environmental Science class wrote essays that are presented in the glass showcases on the 2nd floor of the Meyer Bldg and also have recreated a Malawi village in the 1st floor Lobby of the Meyer Bldg. The 8th and 9th Grade Physical Science classes will be building a windmill to accompany the Malawi village. The Physics classes will provide insight to our younger students as to how to power the windmill.
