Ryan Brock '11 Honored as Loyola Athlete

The Allstate Sugar Bowl and the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame named Loyola’s men’s basketball standout Ryan Brock ’11 as the Greater New Orleans Outstanding Male Amateur Athlete.

Brock, who graduated in May with a degree in business administration, was the fourth-leading scorer in the nation with 22.2 points per game and was recognized as a NAIA All-American and as the Louisiana Small College Player of the Year.

A New Orleans native who prepped at Brother Martin, Brock finished his career with 1,706 points, good for second all-time at Loyola. He averaged 21.1 points per game over three seasons, putting him third all-time in the Loyola record books. He also has three of the seven highest scoring seasons in Wolfpack history.

Earlier in the year, Brock was named to the Southern States Athletic Conference All-Conference and All-Tournament teams. He was SSAC West Division Player of the Year. The Louisiana Sports Writers Association tapped him to their All-Louisiana Team.

The Greater New Orleans Sports Awards Selection Committee, made up of local media members, honors athletes in a wide-range of categories including the James J. Corbett Award, Eddie Robinson Award, and the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
