Ruggers Celebrate Outstanding Season

IMG_0013Members of the Crusader rugby team gathered in the Brother Mark Thornton, S.C., Terrace this week to celebrate their impressive 13-3 season this year. Coach Gary Giepert ’80 honored the entire team for their rugged commitment to conditioning, practice, and play and gave special mention to some outstanding players:

Golden Hammer (award for hardest hit) – Matthew Hood

Most Improved Forward – Matthew Reineke

Most Improved Back – Mitchell Maurin

Most Valuable Forward – Vincent Duhe

Most Valuable Backs – Ben Gambino and Joey Morris

Most Valuable Player – Joseph Caravella

Team Captains – Joseph Caravella and Connor Glennon

A special award given in memory of James DeBrueys ’06 to two students who have played rugby for five consecutive years at Brother Martin. James’s sister Mrs. Michelle McCrary spoke about James’s love of rugby and of Brother Martin and presented Hunter Moak and Joseph Caravella with a plaque and a rugby jersey. We thank the DeBrueys family for their support of Brother Martin High School in honor of their son, our Crusader James.
