“Roy Hoffmann, St. Aloysius Class of 1946, spent most of his life competing in organized sports. From the time he was a teenager until his aging body told him to slow down in his early 80s, Hoffmann tested himself and his competition in a myriad of athletic events.
Due to complications from COPD, Hoffman passed away at his home in Metairie, June 5, 2016, at the age of 88. Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced for Hoffman.
Hoffmann has been inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, the Commercial Athletic Association Hall of Fame and the Senior Olympics Hall of Fame.” Reported by Ron Brocato for SportsNOLA.
A Memorial Mass Celebration will be at St. Philip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Avenue in Metairie on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at noon with a visitation at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
