The crimson and gold of Brother Martin will be well represented at the LHSAA’s Region 3-5A Regional Track and Field meet on April 29 as 16 athletes compete in events for a chance to qualify for the state championship meet a week later.

The advancing Crusaders will take a 27-mile ride to Hahnville High to participate in the final step toward a berth in the Class 5A championship meet. They qualified by placing among the top four finishers in the District 9-5A meet held at Tad Gormley Stadium on April 23.

The championship event matched the eight district members in 19 events, in which Brother Martin’s contingent finished in second place with 120 points by winning two events and placing among the top competitors in 10 others.

Sprinters Easton Royal ‘27 and Owen Moller ’27 led the Crusaders’ point parade by scoring in 3 or more events. Royal won the 100-meter dash (10.24) and anchored the victorious 4x100-meter relay (41.40). He also finished second in the 200-meter dash (21.13).

Moller was part of the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams. He also scored points in the 200-meter dash (21.59) and long jump (21-5½).

Ian Acosta ‘26, Brayden Bulloch ‘27 and Daniel Bonilla ‘28 earned spots in the regional meet in two of their specialties; Acosta by placing second in the 800-meter run (2:01.25) and as part of the runner-up 4x800-meter relay (8:23.48); Bulloch in the 800-meter run (2:01.77) and the 4x800; and Bonilla, third in the 1,600 (4:31.17) and part of the 4x400 relay foursome.

Also extending their seasons will be William Lionnet ‘26, who will start in the 1,600-meter run (4:32.46), Anders Maitrejean, runner-up at 3,200 meters (9:26.64); Caleb Carmouche, third in the 3,200 (9:32.78); and various relay team members, Gaines Randol ‘27, Devin Kensel ‘26, Carson Kenney ‘26, Carson Mills ‘28, and Devin Nicks ‘26.

Brother Martin will be represented in the seven field events by the versatile Moller, who will be out to better his 22-feet, 11-inch long jump, achieved in the Grizzly Relays a few weeks ago.

Other field specialists moving on to the regional meet will be javelin throwers Brady Allen ‘26, whose throw of 163-2 placed him second, and Connor Vorhoff ‘27, fourth at 152-1.

Nicholas Bruno’s ‘28 discus throw of 148-8 gave him a second-place finish, while Kenneth Holmes III ‘27 was third in the shot-put (43-3½).

Most of the Crusaders’ points were scored in running events in which members of the Crusaders’ cross country team were instrumental in high points in two relays.

Jesuit claimed the boys’ team championship, scoring 160 points, and Mount Carmel was the girls’ team finalist with 190 points over a small field of six competitors.
