The Brother Martin community mourns the loss of Mr. Roland H. Meyer Jr. ’45 SA. Roland passed away on April 8, 2016 at the age of 88. Roland was a lifelong patron of Brother Martin and was the recipient of the 2002 Senator J. Ellender Alumnus of the Year Award. After Hurricane Katrina, Roland was instrumental in the re-building of campus. During the 2007-2008 school year, the Roland H. & Macy Paton Meyer Science and Mathematics Building opened on August 17th. He also was a supporter of the annual Extravaganza and President’s Dinner. According to his obituary, Roland lived his personal philosophy; “Work hard, Play hard, Sleep fast.”
Roland is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eunice Paton Meyer (Masie), four children: Stanley Meyer (Janice), Carmen Meyer (Richard Amdur), Barbara Meyer Jarosz (Edward), Corinne Meyer Driver (Randall) and nine grandchildren.
His final resting place will be at the Meyer Family Cemetery in Lake Toxaway, NC.
