The Behavioral Ecology and Environmental Research Team conducted a socialization experiment utilizing the Zebrafish (Danio Rerio) as a behavioral model. Zebrafish live in organized groups in which the behavior of certain members of the group influences other individuals: this behavior is termed “shoaling.” The aim of our study was to determine how three separately housed shoals would interact when introduced into a single environment. This study was performed in collaboration with the Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory at the University of Southern Mississippi under the direction of Dr. David Echevarria. The research team will travel to USM in October to meet with Dr. Echevarria and analyze the data.
