In Remembrance of Brother Martin Hernandez, S.C.

Brother Martin Hernandez1Today at Brother Martin we remember our beloved teacher, leader and namesake on the anniversary of his death. Each year on this day, we celebrate the life of the man who arrived in New Orleans in the 1930s and eventually became principal of St. Aloysius College. He did more than that, helping to build Cor Jesu from the ground up and establishing schools around Louisiana, the nation and even in Uganda. When he died in 1991, the legendary Phil Johnson, news manager and editorialist at WWL, penned this editorial about our namesake. Here is that editorial, which our students again heard today during morning prayer.
