Students in Mr. Michael Lynn’s American History 7 classes visited the Chalmette Battlefield last week on the 197th Anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans. The 7th grade class viewed re-enactments of skirmishes that took place during the battle, saw cannon firing demonstrations, and interacted with National Park Rangers. They interviewed Brother Martin senior Alex Strohmeyer who participated in the re-enactment of the historic battle. Students will use this unique field experience to compliment their study of the War of 1812.
