With sadness in our loss and with gladness in his release from pain and in his entrance into his Father’s Kingdom, we share with you the passing of Brother Maurus Bordelon, S.C. ’55 SA. He was 77 years old.
Many of you know Brother Maurus, who taught Physics, Physics Honors, and Physics AP, for many years at Brother Martin. He joined the faculty as a founding member in the 1969-1970 school year and worked up until Hurricane Katrina in 2005. At that time, he remained at Catholic High where he helped tutor and set up labs for the science department. The Physics Lab in the Meyer Building is named in honor of him.
Who could forget his strobe dance? His love of Physics? His sarcastic but playful sense of humor? He showed thousands of students God’s grandeur through the complexity and joy of our natural laws.
Services for Brother Maurus will be held this Tuesday, November 25, in the James B. Branton Chapel. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m.
Brother Maurus, may you rest in peace and be in awe of God’s love in the same way you revered his creation here on Earth. Brother Martin High School was certainly a better place because of you!
