While students were continuing an extended Mardi Gras holiday, faculty and staff members from the Brothers of the Sacred Heart schools in Louisiana and Mississippi (Brother Martin, Catholic High, E.D. White, and St. Stanislaus) gathered on the campus of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge to work in solidarity on the topic of vocations, specifically “planting the seed” in our students for vocations to religious life, especially to the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Brother Mark Hilton, S.C., the first provincial for the new United States province who will take office in July, greeted the participants and underscored the historical dimension of our mission. Brothers Ronald Hingle ’78 and Brother Paul Montero gave an extended presentation on the reality of religious vocations among young people today and exhorted us to be more intentional in our invitations to young people to consider a vocation to the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.
