In the American Legion Southeast Regional tournament semifinal game, Shaw-based Refuel scored twice in the top of the seventh to hang on for a 9-7 victory against Brother Martin-based Peake BMW (17-5-1).
Despite the loss, Peake BMW still qualifies for the American Legion State tournament starting on July 19th at Kirsch Rooney.
Going into the seventh inning, the game was knotted up at 7-7 before a bases-loaded walk scored the go ahead run for Refuel. The Shaw-based team scored an insurance run on an RBI single later that inning.
Peake BMW made one last attempt, loading the bases in the bottom half of the inning, but the Refuel defense held on to secure the victory.
