The rivalry between Brother Martin and Jesuit got even hotter during Wednesday night’s Summer Legion match-up. Brother Martin based Peake BMW and Jesuit based Retif Oil played a stellar summer baseball game at Kirsch-Rooney resulting in a 3-2 Peake BMW victory.
Down 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Daniel Lahare, who finished the night going 3-for-4, scored from third on a fielders’choice to knot up the score. DH Jarett Gongora smacked a double to deep-center, scoring Cody Ducote to make it 2-1 and give the Brother Martin-based team a lead that they did not relinquish. Gongora finished the night 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Peake BMW starting pitcher Corey Gaconi (3-0) threw four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings and didn’t give up a hit until the 7th inning.
The Brother Martin based Peake BMW team is now 7-1 on the season and will play De La Salle based Post 307 Friday night at Kirsch-Rooney stadium. First pitch is set for 5:00 pm.
