On Saturday, November 18, it was a “roaring good time” for those arriving at the New Orleans Marriott for the annual Celebration of the Crest. Instead of a traditional ‘Crimson & Gold’ themed night, our guests were transformed back in time to the “Jazz Age.” This year, it was a “PUTTIN’ ON THE RITZ” themed event that welcomed over 700 guests including parents, friends, alumni of St. Aloysius, Cor Jesu, and Brother Martin, as well as faculty and staff of Brother Martin. Guests donned their favorite cocktail attire with their pearls and zoot suits that were full of glitz and glamour. The chair-couple for the event was Missy and Mark Hildreth and co-chair-couples were Ami and Charlie Martinez ’85, Renee and Allen Boudreaux, and Kim and Jamie Munoz
The jazzy night began with a premium Patron Party that included silent auction items and raffles. Welcoming guests there were Patron Party chair couple, Jodi and P. Lindsey Williams ’83. Chef Thorsten Leighty and his staff at the Marriott prepared a spectacular cuisine for the night including shrimp cocktail, beef wellington, chicken andouille gumbo, coconut shrimp, debris sliders, a mac and cheese bar, desserts and even a late- night snack of bite- size grilled cheese sandwiches. A scrumptious candy bar donated by D & D Creations added a special touch to the ballroom which was decorated with flowers, top hats, and plumes. Auction sponsors and donors were recognized throughout the night on a 15′ Power Point presentation.
A selection of silent and live auction items were open for bidding and guests participated in several raffles including the “Best of Live, “50/50,” “52,” and the favorite “Dream Vacation”. Items were also up for the live auction with Brother Martin Ambassadors helping bidders to “Bid High” for those coveted items. Guests enjoyed music by The Benchwarmers as they danced the night away.
This event, sponsored by the Brother Martin Parents Club, is the school’s largest annual fundraiser benefiting the student body. Thank you to our Student Ambassadors, Cheerleaders, and all our generous supporters. We look forward to another successful event next year!
