Our “Joy of the Resurrection” Essay Contest Returns – Enter Now!

This spring, Brother Martin High School invites 5th, 6th, and 7th grade boys and girls to participate in the second annual “The Joy of the Resurrection” essay contest. Brother Martin is excited once again for this opportunity to partner with schools and/or church parishes to showcase our young adults and their understanding of Easter.

Submit an essay of 200 to 300 words on our topic, Psalm 104: “Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.”

Reflect on the scripture passage and consider one or more of these questions in your response:

  • Where do we see the Holy Spirit in our lives?

  • How can we be open to seeing the Holy Spirit’s presence even more than we do already?

  • How does Easter “renew the face of the earth?”

Entries must be received by Brother Martin High School by Monday, April 17th at 3:15 p.m. Entries can be submitted in electronic or in print form. No late entries accepted.

Email to: tmavor@brothermartin.com or Mail to: Mr. Thomas Mavor, Brother Martin High School, 4401 Elysian Fields Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122.

Format: The essay should be typed double spaced and in size 11 or 12 font. The student’s name, grade level, gender, and current school should be included on a separate, but attached page.

Awards: One male and one female winner will be chosen in each of the grade levels: 5th, 6th, and 7th grades.

Participation and winner recognition will occur during the week of April 24th. Special prizes for the essay contest will be announced with the winning recipients.
