This morning, Mrs. Catherine G. Coats, an engineer with Halliburton, spoke to the Excalibur National Honor Society for Excellence in Science club. Mrs. Coats gave a summary of her engineering career specifically focusing on the curriculum she followed at LSU and the duties in her current job. In addition, she answered questions about employment pathways and discussed environmental issues involved in her work.
Some of the more specific questions the members of the honor society were able to ask included how the drop in oil prices affects employment in the oil industry, the details of fracturing, and what different fields of engineering are available for study in college.
