On November 10, 2011, cadets from Brother Martin’s NJROTC unit (Brandt Fisk, Trey Brunett, Daniel Martinez, Andrew Gros, Joseph Ricci, Michael Leblanc) participated in the National World War II Museum’s event “In the Company of Heroes.” The Cadets assisted with preparation for the event by preparing auction tables, restaurant stations, and guest seating. As the night progressed, the Cadets aided in welcoming and directing the event’s “Heroes” and other guests of honor in conjunction with the entertainment, food, and beverage areas.
The Cadets were privileged to hear the stories of many fallen and injured heroes of the United States and participated in honoring those men and women who have served, continue to serve, or have given their life for their country. The Cadets listened to an inspiring speech about patriotism and the American Flag, and they were fortunate enough to speak with Lance Corporal Hardy P. Mills IV, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who suffered life -changing injuries when his truck was struck by an RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade.) Lance Corporal Mills was one among the many veterans whom the cadets were fortunate enough to speak with. The Brother Martin NJROTC continues to proudly serve the community and the veterans who so bravely served and continue to serve their nation.
