The 2016-2017 academic school year began with the annual New Faculty & Staff Orientation that occurred on Friday, August 5, 2016. New faculty were treated to a continental breakfast and Principal Greg Rando led the group in a morning prayer. Assistant Principal for Academics Debbie Broussard, Staff Development Co-Chair Ian Supak and Staff Development Co-Chair Melanie Williams gave an overview of the day along with introducing Brother Martin President John Devlin to the faculty. Mr. Devlin presented the history of the educational tradition of Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Following the presentation, the new faculty toured the campus, participated in workshops, and were treated to lunch with fellow colleagues before returning to an afternoon wrap-up session to end the day.
Ms. Susan Benedetto:
Susan joins the English Department and will be teaching English II Honors and English III and assisting with the yearbook. Her 33 years of experience include positions as a librarian, English, and speech teacher in the St. Charles and Jefferson Parish School Systems.
Mr. Jamie Bridgman:
Jamie joins the Science Department and will be teaching biology and chemistry. He has coached the junior varsity lacrosse team at Brother Martin since September of 2015 and will continue in that role. He taught at SciTech Academy for the past two years, and has served as an environmental consultant.
Mr. Lance Ledet:
Lance is a graduate of E. D. White Catholic High School and returns to Brother Martin, after several years, to join the Physical Education Department and football coaching program. In the past, he has taught in Houston, Texas, and most recently at Destrehan High School where he served in the Physical Education Department and coached football.
Mr. Billy Rieger ’95:
Billy joins the Math Department and will teach geometry and advanced math. Billy will also be coaching in our freshman football program.
Mr. Phil Sims ’91:
Phil joins the English and Social Studies Departments and will be teaching English I and Pre-Law. He will also be coaching with the cross country and track and field programs.
Mr. Aaron Winstein ’90:
Aaron joins our Finance Department as Finance Accountant.
