Music Fundamentals Hosts Jazz Recital

Members of the Brother Martin Fine Arts Department Mike Scorsone ‘67 SA, Kevin Caparotta ‘88, and David Joyner hosted a Jazz Recital, for our Fine Arts students, in the James B. Branton Chapel as a culmination of the first quarter curriculum presented during the newest course called Music Fundamentals.

During this recital, Scorsone and Caparotta entertained and informed students by playing selections of jazz stylings from the earliest history of jazz to more contemporary times. Selections included Maple Leaf Rag (Scott Joplin), Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans (Eddie DeLange and Louis Alter), One O'clock Jump (Count Basie), and Take Five (Paul Desmond and Dave Brubeck Quartet) among others. Following the recital, students participated in a question and answer session.

Thank you to Brother Martin’s Fine Arts Department for your dedication and talents for educating our young men about the Arts.
