On Monday, Janurary 16th, over three dozen Brother Martin students honored the birthday, life, and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr by engaging in a day of service that was sponsored by the Office of Black Catholics of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. The day began with a prayer led by Archbishop Aymond. The archbishop thanked the volunteers for making the day a “Day On” instead of just a day off. Brother Martin students then spent the day engaged in community service in City Park, Langston Hughes Elementary School in Gentilly, and the Jeff Care Center for the homeless on the West Bank. The Brother Martin students worked with faculty and students from other high schools and Catholic youth groups and earned ten service hours.
