On Saturday, May 24th, Brother Martin High School hosted the 14th annual Miracle League “All-Star” Weekend to benefit the Miracle League of GNO.
This event included a baseball clinic and split-squad game on Farley Field, and was a wonderful opportunity for Miracle League participants to enjoy spirited competition alongside student-athletes from Brother Martin’s baseball and football teams as they were cheered on by our National Championship Cheer Team.
“We were excited to witness the joy and happiness of the children and our athletes working together to have a fun-filled day. This special partnership has always been a highlight of our program and year,” relayed Athletics Director Mark Wisniewski '81.
The mission of the Miracle League of Greater New Orleans and the Miracle League North Shore is to promote the health and well-being of children with disabilities, provide opportunities for able-bodied children to learn about and interact with children with disabilities, and develop community awareness and support for the child athlete with disabilities through organized sports leagues.
The Miracle League is designed to serve kids who cannot be accommodated by established baseball, basketball, and soccer leagues due to the special needs of their disabilities. The vision of the program is to provide any child, regardless of their level of disability, the opportunity to play league sports and enjoy the emotional and physical benefits of being part of a team sport.
