Men of Elysian Fields Take to the Track

DSC08298The 2018 Crusader Track Team is practicing for their upcoming outdoor season and is gearing up for the State Indoor meet taking place on Saturday, February 17th at Louisiana State University (LSU). The indoor track team will be participating in the Last Chance State Qualifier this upcoming Saturday, February 3rd at LSU. The results of that meet will determine who qualifies for the State Meet on February 17th.

The following Crusader athletes are currently sitting in qualifying positions based on their performances at the first two meets this season:

  • Hunter Appleton ’19 – 3200 m
  • Cade Litolff ’19 – 3200 m
  • Jeremy Baier ’19 – 1600 m
  • 4 x 200, 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 meter relay
  • Matthew Christy ’18 – shot put
  • John Buchert ’18 – shot put

Crusaders participating in the 4 x 200 meter relay, in this weekend’s qualifying meet, are Damon Smith ’18, Neko Rojas ’18, Tyler Thompson ’18  and Carson Perez ’19. Crusaders participating in the 4 x 400 meter relay are Michael Wilson ’18, Tyler Thompson ’18, Jackson Anuszkiewicz ’19 and Ethan Dupas ’20.

Our Men of Elysian Fields have some track history that they are looking to defend at the upcoming meets. Hunter Appleton is the defending Division I 3200 meter Indoor State Champion. The 4 x 800 meter relay placed 2nd in last year’s Indoor State Championship. Hayden Courrege’ finished 3rd last year in the 3200 meter run at the Indoor State Championship. He will look to qualify in an individual event this upcoming weekend. Lastly, Jackson Anuskiewicz, ’19 and Michael Wilson, ’18 will return from injury this weekend to seek qualification in individual events.
