March for Life Group Shares Lunch with The Garvey's

DSC09706Following our Social Justice Liturgy, on Friday, February 24th, our group of March for Life participants met over lunch with very special Brother Martin guests: Mr. and Mrs. J. Donald Garvey ’50 SA.  Mr. and Mrs. Garvey are amazing examples of Social Justice in our very own school community and our city. The Garvey’s graciously donated funds that allowed our Crusaders to attend the March for Life pilgrimage in Washington D.C. this past January. Our March for Life attendees and the Brother Martin community are forever grateful for the impact that the Garvey’s have on the greater New Orleans community and on our students, particularly the Crusaders for Life Club members.

“The lunch with the Garveys was such an amazing experience. All students were able to share their life changing experience and express their absolute thanks with the Garvey’s. The lunch brought back many memories for the students who attended the March For Life this year. We even got to her some memories from Mr. and Mrs. Garvey who have previously attended the March for Life in Washington D.C. Mr. and Mrs. Garvey are an inspiration to all of us and they are a major reason that many of us were able to fight for the Right to all Life in Washington D.C. this year,” said Ryan O’Connor ’19.

During the lunch, our Crusaders who attended March for Life were able to share their favorite memories from the trip with the Garvey’s, and each individual had the opportunity to thank Mr. and Mrs. Garvey for their contribution. The students even had the opportunity to write a thank you note to the Garvey’s while they were in Washington D.C. visiting the Basilica. Mr. Joshua Thomas ‘97, Crusaders for Life moderator and March for Life trip moderator, concluded the lunch by giving Mr. and Mrs. Garvey the thank you notes as a small token of appreciation from the Crusaders.
