Local Alumni Travel for Football Trip 2017

IMG_1376Last year, members and guests from Brothers of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association traveled to the “Big Apple” to watch the Saints vs. Giants for their annual Alumni Saints Trip. Guests took in some great sites and dined at the some of the best places that New York had to offer.

This year, Director of Development Kenny Spellman ’84, Director of Alumni Scott Corrente ’83, and Executive Vice President Greg Rando ’77 along with local alumni and families took to Charlotte, NC for the 2017 Alumni Football Trip.  On Friday, the group arrived in Charlotte ready to take in some great shopping, sightseeing, and cuisine. Prior to a social on Saturday, the group attended Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church. The attendees were not just in Charlotte to cheer on the Saints, but also joined members of the Charlotte Chapter for their annual social at the Carolina Ale House that evening. They even took time to cheer on LSU as they defeated Syracuse by a score of 35-26.  Crusader representatives updated guests on upcoming and current renovations at school including the food services expansion and Benson Mall renovations that is scheduled to begin May of 2018.

On Sunday, the Crusader travelers started their morning with a great breakfast and tailgated with fellow Saints fans before the game. The Saints ended up defeating the Panthers by a score of 34-13 on the Panther’s home field.  After the game, Spellman was able to catch up with fellow Crusader alumni Andrew “Turtle” Sumich ’93 and Terry Adams ’76, who currently reside in North Carolina.

“It’s nice to visit with our alumni across the country and support the Saints. Jay Romig ’72 and Mr. Benson ’44 SA of the Saints always take care of our group on these trips,” said Spellman.

Thanks again to all who attended another great trip! If you are interested in the 2018 Alumni Football Trip next fall, please contact the Office of Alumni at 504-284-6700 or email alumni@brothermartin.com.
